Why immigration
A lot of birds fly to the wetlands of the north of Iran in order to escape the cold of Siberia. Due to hunting or drying up of wetlands, the number of these birds decreases every year.

How many kilometers
By Crossing Kazakhstan, the Volga River, and Azerbaijan, Omid eventually migrates to the Fereydunkenar wetlands in Mazandaran province in October, after flying about 5,000 kilometers and stays until early March.
First time in Iran
Siberian cranes were first seen in Iran in 1974.
Alone crane
In 2006 3 cranes came to the north of Iran. In 2007 Omid came to Iran with it's partner but it's partner died and Omid became the only remaining crane.
About crane
The Siberian crane is a large bird, about 1.5 meters tall and more than 2 meters long between two wings and a white body with long red legs and a long black beak sitting on its red face.
